The TECHNOLOGY PARTNERS Foundation has launched the SKILLBRIDGE project under Erasmus+ Alliances for Innovation (Lot 1) to modernise skills development in higher education, vocational education and training, and industry. The initiative has received €1.8 million in funding and will run for three years, engaging 14 partners from Poland, Lithuania, Croatia, Spain and Serbia. TECHNOLOGY PARTNERS coordinates the project as an organisation with extensive experience in innovation and EU initiatives.
What SKILLBRIDGE will do
The project integrates deep-tech and sustainability competencies — covering artificial intelligence, blockchain, the Internet of Things, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing and green technologies — into curricula so that learners and educators acquire practical skills needed in fast-growing sectors and in Europe’s green and digital transitions.
An industry-led learning model will provide co-creation labs, challenge-based learning, and work-based placements designed with SMEs, start-ups and technology hubs, supporting employability, entrepreneurship and innovation capacity. The project will also apply strategic foresight to anticipate labour-market needs and to support skills-intelligence systems.
Planned results include:
- modernised HE/VET programmes;
- stronger academia–industry cooperation via innovation hubs and incubators;
- entrepreneurship support;
- creation of Centres for Foresight and Innovation (CFIs) in partner institutions to ensure long-term collaboration and policy engagement.
Why it matters
By aligning skills development with real market needs and European priorities — the European Green Deal, Digital Education Action Plan and European Skills Agenda — SKILLBRIDGE strengthens Europe’s innovation capacity, resilience and competitiveness, contributing to SDGs 4, 8, 9, 13 and 17.
