ABSTRACT

The objective of the Go2Space-HUBs project is to establish conditions for the creation and scaling up of European businesses offering technology and services in and from the space-sector. This is being achieved through the creation of 3 new Space Hubs in Madrid, Tallinn and Coimbra, strengthening local entrepreneurship / business ecosystems and networks. The project consists of a range of new local initiatives for entrepreneurs, start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs, building bridges to EU activities. It is designed to secure the creation of new start-ups and to help start-ups and scale-ups grow. Go2Space HUBs includes: Incubation of 20 early stage start-ups; Acceleration of 20 established start-ups / scale-ups; Demo-Days to present their solutions to investors and partners; Innovation Days; B2B events to facilitate spinning-in/out; Organization of hackathons; Joint-applications to the Copernicus incubator; An “Up-scaling engine” to help a range of local scale-ups and SMEs secure more efficient growth; Introduction to existing space resources; Identification of barriers to investments in space; Targeted training on access to private and public finance & Final Investment & Partnering event with participants from all the 3 HUBs.

TECHNOLOGY PARTNERS’ ROLE IN THE PROJECT

The main role of TECHNOLOGY PARTNERS in the project is to ensure that the initiatives under the project are designed in way that facilitates spinning-in/-out and help the local HUBs in promoting technology transfer and cross-fertilization. TECHNOLOGY PARTNERS leads the AWERNESS work package mobilising entrepreneurs through the organisation of Innovation Days, B2B brokerage events, trainings to business clusters, and trainings and webinars on the DIAS environments. It also helps in the elaboration of the framework and programs for the Incubators and Accelerator. It takes part in the design and implementation of the selection process of entrepreneurs / start-ups for the Incubators and for the Accelerator. It provides trainings to start-ups on the EIC Accelerator pilot (SME Instrument) improving their capacity to secure finance.
